Ser mujer es un acto naturalAnswering a call from the International Museum of Women in San Francisco, thousands of women from around the world sent their perspectives on what women of this generation think about themselves. In this photographic project Itzel Martínez del C. uses the familiar aesthetics of fashion magazine images in order to reveal the real lives of women. She makes use of images that represent everyday life in order to speak out against the ideas that fashion sells to us. These images are the result of daily moments in a group of friends between 21 and 28 who express themselves naturally in front of the camera. Photography by: Itzel Martínez del C.

Asfalto[2002 National Experimental Video First Prize Winner] Experimental video created from the exploration of the body and abandoned cars in a junkyard. Asphalt starts off from the idea that every car has a personality and an organic life. We are cars for judiciales, for drug dealers, for teenagers, for rich people, for work, for travel, we are cars for everyday life… our connection doesn’t end there, it extends on to the representation of the car and the life experiences that take place in them: childhoods and their fantasies, dreams, hideouts, modesty, nakedness, accidents, contraband, nights of excess, liquids, fluids, oil, saliva, passion, sex and death.
