Super Sonidero Travesura, the digital tiger, is a Cumbia-Salsa-HiNRGY project that originates in the violent yet marvelous city of Tijuana in Northern Mexico. It is a musical fusion that combines synthesizers and drums, usually accompanied by guest musicians, that turns each show into a Tijuana party. They have shared the stage with such acts as María Daniela, Disco Ruido, Banda la Bufadora, Celso Piña, Nortec, The Rapture, Sonido Changorama, Agrupación Cariño, and Silverio. One of the catchiest cumbia projects today, with such hits as El Paso de la Garra and Pachanga Latina, Super Sonidero Travesura will attempt to enter the world Latin market.

Body and Dialogue (2009)

Body and Dialogue is an informal investigation and an excuse to address reflections on the body in the city of Tijuana that is created as a result of Proyecto Cívico: Diálogos e interrogantes (PCDI). Outlined with the intent of rethinking the museum’s public programming, it involves both the specialized and general audience with new and more significant means of exchange and communication. The Proyecto Cívico exhibition is an investigation on the state of political, social and civic exceptions that scandalously govern everyday life in Tijuana, but whose symptoms are constantly observable in all contemporary nations. Body and Dialogue is one of the seven projects that consituted the public programming of PCDI.

Body and Dialogue is created in order to think, through the body, about the city we perform. It arises (just as the rest of the public presentations of PCDI) with the idea of dialogue and reflection about the political, social and civic crisis that the city is currently under, by linking the works of artists with citizen involvement. Project carried out in collaboration with the Lux Boreal dance company.

Ser mujer es un acto natural

Answering a call from the International Museum of Women in San Francisco, thousands of women from around the world sent their perspectives on what women of this generation think about themselves. In this photographic project Itzel Martínez del C. uses the familiar aesthetics of fashion magazine images in order to reveal the real lives of women. She makes use of images that represent everyday life in order to speak out against the ideas that fashion sells to us. These images are the result of daily moments in a group of friends between 21 and 28 who express themselves naturally in front of the camera.

Asfalto

[2002 National Experimental Video First Prize Winner]

Experimental video created from the exploration of the body and abandoned cars in a junkyard. Asphalt starts off from the idea that every car has a personality and an organic life. We are cars for judiciales, for drug dealers, for teenagers, for rich people, for work, for travel, we are cars for everyday life… our connection doesn’t end there, it extends on to the representation of the car and the life experiences that take place in them: childhoods and their fantasies, dreams, hideouts, modesty, nakedness, accidents, contraband, nights of excess, liquids, fluids, oil, saliva, passion, sex and death.
